October 22nd, 10:AM to 4:PM El Prado in Balboa Park, this is what an Eco Far is all about. This original concept has come back to Balboa Park. Meet the best floral, horticulture, and eco-friendly societies and companies in San Diego. Talk with experts in their fields. Enjoy the festival and learn about plants, nature and the environment and organizations that make San Diego so special. Meet Nan Sterman, lecturer, author, plant specialist, biologist and host of “A Growing Passion” at her book signing booth, and a guest appearance by Ms. Smarty Plantsä.

“The San Diego Floral Association is proud to present our annual celebration “Birds, Bees, Flowers and Tree” in Balboa Park. This is a real celebration of nature and the environment – inviting the best non-profits and eco-friendly companies and organizations who are making a positive difference in our community”, says committee chair Kathy Esty. “Unlike other Eco fairs, The San Diego Floral Association provides this opportunity at little to no cost to the exhibitors as part of our way of saying thank you for what they do. We believe that holding an event in one central location gives these organizations a chance to connect with park-goers and to network with like-minded, eco-friendly groups as well. It’s a win-win situation”.

Nan Sterman – book signing “Hot Color, Dry Garden” Nan Sterman can’t stop talking about plants. Meet her in the supermarket and she’ll tell you about the variety of peach in your shopping basket. This celebrated author and TV personality will be signing her latest book: Hot Color Dry Garden”. She is a joy to meet and brings life (and color) to all things she does: Gardening books, photography, talks, lectures, international garden tours, and designing gardens. She’s there to meet you!

Ms. Smarty-Plants ™ 10:00am

Start your morning with a bang and bring your kids to meet Ms. Smarty Plantsä. Catch her if you can as she moves around the venue seeking out those who are curious about nature and the environment and who just love the spirit of the holidays.

Exhibitors: Informational booths u Plant sales u One-of-a-kind crafts

Browse among our San Diego-based exhibitors on El Prado and in the patios of Casa Del Prado. Speak to the plant societies, non-profit organizations, eco-friendly groups and natural craft artists showcasing their product, programs and services.

Kids’ Crafts

Interact with the San Diego Natural History Museum, Specialty Produce and the San Diego River Park Foundation as they offer their best kids’ and adult craft activities. It doesn’t stop there. Check out the other exhibitors as well…after all, Halloween is just around the corner and who knows what they might have hiding?

Floral Societies and plant sale

We are offering the best in plants. From Protea, native plants to orchids and milk weed, these are just a few of the plant sellers attending this event. Don’t forget to stop by and ask the experts at the Master Gardeners booth.

About the San Diego Floral Association

Founded in 1907 and one of San Diego’s oldest civic groups, the San Diego Floral Association (a 501c3 non-profit organization) continues to move forward its mission to promote the knowledge and appreciation of horticulture and floriculture in the San Diego region through our awarding-winning publication of California Garden Magazine (published since 1909), classes, lectures, garden tours, and our annual Eco fair Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees and our annual holiday celebration Festival of Trees , both held in Balboa Park.
