Anna Yum is a top, award-winning trial attorney and former prosecutor who focuses her law practice on defending the accused in criminal prosecutions. Ms. Yum graduated from Northwestern University, ranked 12th in the country, with a double major in communications studies and international studies. Upon graduation, Ms. Yum was employed as a litigation advisory services analyst for a nationally renowned consulting and accounting firm, Ernst & Young, LLP. After obtaining work experience, Ms. Yum attended and graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law.
While at law school, Ms. Yum excelled in the nationally recognized Mock Trial program, in which she successfully competed in both local and national competitions. In addition, Ms. Yum received several awards recognizing her oral advocacy skills including the American Board of Trial Advocates Award and Order of Barristers, an accolade which recognized the top oral advocates in her graduating class. During law school, Ms. Yum also secured a highly competitive judicial externship for the Honorable Robert M. Takasugi, Senior Federal Court Judge of the United States District Court, Central District of California.
After graduation from law school, Ms. Yum started her legal career as a deputy district attorney for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure as a prosecutor, Ms. Yum was promoted very quickly and garnered a highly successful trial record after conducting dozens of jury trials. As a deputy district attorney, Ms. Yum worked in the following units: misdemeanors, grand theft auto, general felonies, career criminals, sexual assault and child abuse, and criminal street gangs. Ms. Yum’s hard work and talent did not go unnoticed as she garnered several accolades including a nomination for Misdemeanor Deputy District Attorney of the Year and Employee of the Month on several occasions.
In 2008, Ms. Yum opened up her own law practice, the Law Offices of Anna R. Yum. For the last decade, Ms. Yum has successfully represented clients on charges ranging from serious and/or violent offenses such as rape/sexual assault, child molest, murder, attempted murder, “criminal street gang” cases, robbery, felony offenses with firearm enhancements, domestic violence with great bodily injury enhancements, etc. to lower-level offenses including driving under the influence, theft-related offenses, narcotics cases, probation violations, and much more.
